About Kimm
Kimm Hunt helps frustrated owners resolve behavior problems and strengthen their relationships with their pets.
Kimm approaches training from an animal welfare perspective. The number one cause of homelessness and death in healthy young dogs is ineffective training. Owners who rehome or surrender their pets are typically overwhelmed by problem behavior. Reward-based training resolves behavior issues and strengthens the human-animal bond, ensuring adoption permanency.
Kimm uses evidence-based best practices supported by current research in clinical animal behavior that focus on teaching animals what they SHOULD do. Desirable behaviors are shaped and maintained using rewards that the animal works enthusiastically to obtain. Reward-based training improves behavior, strengthens the human-animal bond, and enhances owner satisfaction.
Kimm is a Certified Professional Animal Trainer (IATCB) and a Certified Shelter Dog Behavior Consultant (IAABC). She has a BS in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois, studied Public Services Management at DePaul University, and is working on a Master’s in Clinical Animal Behavior at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh. She consults with animal shelters and rescues regarding behavior management and behavioral euthanasia and provides behavior and training services for dogs, cats, birds, and pigs.
A transplant from Chicagoland, Kimm lives in Alpharetta with her spouse, daughters, and dog.
